Police have made public five individuals accused of raping and murdering an 11-year-old girl.
The District Police Office, Sindhupalchowk, made the five accused public on Friday afternoon.
On June 25, around 9:30 a.m., the body of an 11-year-old girl was found near a forest in Chhyangdi, Bhote Koshi Rural Municipality-5.
Police arrested 21-year-old Nima Tenzing Tamang, 22-year-old Wangnima Tamang, 32-year-old Namgyal Sherpa, 20-year-old Dawa Tamang, and 22-year-old Lakpa Pasang Tamang of Bhote Koshi on charges of raping and murdering the girl.
The girl, a resident of Kolgaun, was found dead approximately 400 meters away from her home. A police team led by Superintendent of Police Rameshwar Karki was mobilized after her body was discovered.
Trained dogs were also brought in from Kathmandu for the investigation.
Police conducted an on-site inspection, collected evidence, interrogated suspects, and carried out further investigation with the help of the trained dogs.
The investigation revealed the involvement of the five accused. Police said that they recovered evidence from the homes of the accused.
The district court has granted the police a seven-day remand to further investigate the accused in connection with the incident.
