Police sub inspector arrested on charge of rape

A Nepal Police sub inspector posted in Banke district has been arrested on rape charge.
Sub inspector Bam Bahadur Rana, posted at the Karnali Province Police Training, has been arrested on charge of raping a female police trainee.
Spokesperson with Banke Police DSP Shiva Bahadur Singh said Rana has been arrested on complaint of the female trainee.
Rana was arrested on October 13 after the trainee filed a complaint accusing him of raping her on that day. DSP Singh said investigation is being done by acquiring Rana's judicial custody for seven days on October 14.
The arrested sub inspector has married the victim's elder sister, according to police source. She has claimed that he took her to a hotel for snacks and raped her.
