Acid thrown on 15-year-old girl over unrequited love

Two men have thrown acid at a 15-year-old girl in Birgunj Metropolitan City Friday morning over unrequited love. The two poured acid at Muskan Khatun of Birgunj-6, currently residing with her mother's parents in Birgunj-3, while she was going to Tribhuvan Hanuman Secondary School. Samsad Miya and Majid Alam, from Chhapkaiya, Birgunj-2, attacked the ninth grader at Ganesh Man Chowk. She has burns on her face, bosom and hands. Police have arrested Miya while Alam is absconding. Miya has told the police that they attacked the girl after she turned down romantic advances by his friend Alam, according to SP with Parsa Police Somendra Singh Rathore. The girl has been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment after Narayani Hospital referred her to the Nepal Cleft and Burn Center in Kirtipur.
