A Chinese national has been arrested with four kilograms of gold from the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Sunday night.
TIA Customs Office arrested Li Ningxing, 23, arriving on a Dragon Air flight from Hong Kong at around 11:45 Sunday night. Chief of TIA Customs Office Gajendra Thakur said Li had put the gold bars inside a fabric waist belt and kept that in the luggage.
"We took Li under control after X-ray machine showed suspicious materials and sent the metal for lab test," Thakur told Setopati. "We have handed him to the police after lab test confirmed the metal to be gold."
The gold recovered from Li has market value of around Rs 22.70 million.
