Death toll due to flood and landslides across the country has reached 17 by Friday evening.
People in 20 districts have been affected by flood and landslides, according to the Nepal Police. Seven persons are missing while another seven have been injured.
Three persons each have been killed in Khotang and Kathmandu districts, and two each in Kavre and Bhojpur. Similarly, one person each have been killed in Okhaldhunga, Parsa, Ramechhap, Sindhuli, Makwanpur, Dhading and Lalitpur.
Kathmandu has recorded 115 millimeters (mm) of rainfall in the past 24 hours. Three have been killed in the district, and Bagmati and Bishnumati corridors and many other places have been inundated.
The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has urged the people in the areas around the rivers and streams to remain alert. The Home Ministry has urged the people in settlements near the rivers to move to safe zones as rainfall will continue till Sunday.
There has been heavy rainfall across the country with Simara recording 311 mm, Okhaldhunga 101 mm, Dhankuta 675.5 mm, and Bhairahawa 43 mm in the past 24 hours. Pokhara, Dipayal, Dadeldhura and Dhangadi, however, have recorded lesser rainfall.
Heavy rainfall since Thursday night has wreaked havoc across the country. The plains have been inundated while there have been landslides at many places in the hills.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division says the heavy rainfall across the country will continue till Sunday.
