Six persons have been killed and six more are missing due to flood and landslides across the country following heavy rainfall since Thursday.
Two persons have been killed in Kavre, Lalitpur and Sindhuli districts, and one each in Ramechhap and Parsa, according to the Home Ministry.
Similarly, three persons swept by landslide in Khotang, and one each by flood in Morang, Sunsari and Panchthar are missing.
Two of a single family have been killed when landslide swept a house in Nala, Banepa of Kavre. Goma Dangal, 50, and Soni, seven, were killed after the landslide at 11 Friday morning, according to police.
Padam Kumari Sunuwar, 50, of Rampur-5 in Ramechhap has been killed in a landslide. Chief District Officer (CDO) Lila Kumari KC said Sunuwar, who was milking a buffalo, died on the spot after being buried under the rubble.
Diwan Rai, nine, has been swept away by a swollen Nuwakhola in Miklajung of Panchthar when he was going to school.
One person each have been killed in landslides in Lalitpur and Sindhuli while one has been killed after drowning in Parsa, and another missing in Sunsari.
Three persons have been buried under the rubble after a landslide in Mulpani, Kathmandu.
The persons staying in a temporary hut after damage in the wall of their house were swept away by landslide, according to police. Chief of Kathmandu Police SSP Uttam Subedi said search is on for the trio with the help of locals and an excavator.
Similarly, one person has gone missing from Kalanki while trying to catch a gas cylinder swept away in the flood. Binod Chaudhary has gone missing while trying to catch the gas cylinder in Kalanki river.
Heavy rainfall since Thursday night has wreaked havoc across the country. The plains have been inundated while there have been landslides at many places in the hills.
The Meteorological Forecasting Division says the heavy rainfall across the country will continue till Sunday.
