Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel, attended the live 'video conference' of Nepali first satellite NepaliSat-1 rotating in orbit around the Earth.
The conference is organized Monday in Japan by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
The Minister is accompanied by Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) vice chancellor Dr Sunil Babu Shrestha, according to NAST Spokesperson Suresh Kumar Dhungel. The two left for Japan last Saturday to take updates about the NepaliSat-1, the nano satellite that was launched into space by Japan's Kyushu Institute of Technology on April 17 from the Virginia Space’s Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility in the United States.
The NepaliSat-1 weighing 1.3 kg has started moving around the Earth's orbit from Monday. It has been in the International Space Station since one and half month.
The NAST has scheduled a live telecast of the moments the satellite being released into the Earth's orbit from its auditorium room 12 noon today. Three experts from JAXA have already arrived here to assist in the live telecast of the awaited moment. The program will continue until 5 pm today.
