Rising temperature has forced the local administration to shut down schools in Mahottari.
The number of schools closing down is increasing along with the rise in the mercury since first week of June. The Sonam rural municipality has issued a notice, closing down schools until June 21.
"The intense heat made difficult for the students in schools, with the risk of health complications, hence we had to close down all the schools," rural municipality Chair Raj Kumar Yadav said.
The Manarasisawa and Balawa municipalities have also shut down schools with effect from Sunday. Other local level governments too have discussed to close down schools for the time being. There are 10 municipalities and five rural municipalities in the district.
According to the Temperature Measurement Center at Bholasanta Chowk, the temperature was recorded to be 43 degree Celsius at 3 pm on Saturday.
As a result, the local markets and government offices remain deserted. Daily wage laborers have been hardly hit.
