A new community hospital is to be constructed in Chandragiri. With Rs. 30 million support from the Province 3 government and Rs 10 million of its own, the Chandragiri municipality is constructing the hospital at Matatirtha in ward no. 8 of the municipality.
The 15 -25 bed health facility will be housed in a three and half story building. Other funds necessary for the hospital will be borne by the ward no. 8, said municipality spokesperson Haribhakta Maharjan.
The hospital is estimated to be completed within a year and is expected to serve over 100,000 people annually. Based on area, Chandragiri is the biggest municipality in Province no. 3.
Laying foundation stone for the hospital at a function held on Saturday, Communist Party of Nepal (CPN) senior leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal said that the hospital upon completion could also serve residents not only of Chandragiri but also from neighboring Dhading.
Mayor of the municipality Ghanashyam Giri said the hospital will help realize the citizen’s right to health guaranteed by the Constitution.
