Teacher at Bhanu Aadharbhoot School in Rumtigadi rural municipality 8 of Rolpa Laxmi Pun, who broke hands of five girls, to 'maintain discipline' has been arrested on Monday.
Pun was arrested after the school closed for Monday, according to Rolpa Police.
She had beaten 14 students breaking hands of five girls on May 26 for coming late to school. She was acting as principal in absence of Jhag Bahadur Bhandari who had gone to Holeri to attend a two-day training for school principals.
Hands of Bimala Roka, Bhim Kumari Bantha, Nirmala Pun, Gauri Gharti and Shanti Nepali were broken when she hit them with a sal stick for coming late to school and 'dressing inappropriately.'
Teacher Pun has claimed that she punished them to teach discipline and added that she did not thrash them due to any prejudice or anger. "I tried to teach them discipline, and it was a little too much," she told Setopati.
