Locals on Sunday staged demonstration calling for action against two security personnel of Riot Control Police Office in Sunawal of west Nawalparasi for their alleged involvement in a rape case.
Locals hit the street to pile pressure on the authorities to take action against the police personnel after the incident of rape of 17-year-old adolescent and 26-year-old girl was made public.
The District Police Office based in west Nawalparasi has initiated a process to take action against police duo on charge of rape. Two accused have also been suspended from their posts for investigation, said the police office.
The suspended police personnel are Prem Khadka, 25, of Masmandu rurual municipality-8, Dadeldhura and Pateswor Yadav, 23, of Gadwa rural municipality-4.
A case of attempted rape has been filed against both of them, informed Deputy Superintendant of Police (DSP) Birendra Thapa. They are accused of raping two girls in forest nearby riot control police battalion.
