Former lawmaker Gayatri Sah has been arrested by the police Sunday afternoon after Mediciti Hospital complained that she refused to take her baby and create a ruckus at the hospital.
Sah has left her son born on March 12 at the hospital accusing it of negligence in diagnosis of Down syndrome. Her son with Down syndrome is still at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) ward of hospital.
SSP at the Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur Rabindra Singh Dhanuk confirmed that Sah and her husband Santosh have been arrested at four Sunday afternoon. "Gayatri Sah has been arrested after she created a ruckus at the hospital," SSP Dhanuk told Setopati. "Mediciti had also lodged a complaint saying she refused to take her baby. We have arrested her after acquiring an arrest warrant from the court."
Sah had demonstrated at the hospital premises before her arrest.
Sah has been claiming that the hospital did not conduct tests for Down syndrome during her pregnancy despite her telling the hospital doctors that her previous kid also has Down syndrome, and been demanding that the hospital take responsibility for raising the kid.
The hospital has been claiming it was not negligent during her consultations at the time of pregnancy and saying she should take her son.
