A vehicle belonging to Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development Chakramani Khanal hit a car belonging to Dr Sahishnu Basnet of Manipal Hospital from behind at Pulchowk on Tuesday afternoon. The minister was not traveling in the vehicle at the time of accident.
Basnet, who was traveling along with her mother and son, was heading to Baneshwor.
Driver of the minister's vehicle Hari Ram Bhujel did not apologize after hitting Basnet's vehicle from behind and scolded Basnet instead. "The driver did not apologize for his mistake. Rather he tried to threaten us," Basnet told Setopati, "He said that I stopped the speeding vehicle. How can I speed the vehicle in such congestion?"
"I also drive vehicle. There can be human errors. But he should learn some decorum. How can one insult just because there are only women and children in the vehicle?" she said.
Meanwhile, chief at Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur Madhav KC said the minister's vehicle was released after 45 minutes after agreement to repair Basnet's car. He added that the police did not hold the minister's vehicle for a longer time as the driver had to pick the minister.
