The Emergency Management Training has been found effective for management of hospital and mobilization of health workers in emergency.
This was shared in a training jointly launched by Ministry of Health and Population and Karnali Academy of Health Sciences (KAHS) with financial and technical support of World Health Organization, especially in Karnali and Far-Western provinces.
The training was launched to provide rescue and treatment service during emergency.
On the occasion, training was imparted to doctors working at Jumla hospital, Nepalgunj Hospital, Surkhet Hospital and district hospitals of the two provinces.
Speaking at a program organized here today to review and evaluate the training, Vice-Chancellor of the Academy Prof Dr Rajendra Raj Wagle said that training was imparted to mobilize doctors and health workers during natural disaster.
Similarly, Chief at the Health Emergency and Disaster Management Section of the Health Ministry, Chudamani Bhandari expressed the belief that the training would be effective to manage emergency situation during disasters.
The Ministry has prepared directives related to Hospital Management and Health Worker Mobilization in emergency and brought into practice.
The World Health Organization had praised the activities carried out by the Ministry in treatment of the injured after Gorkha earthquake.
The training incorporated the sessions for theoretical knowledge about rescue of the injured; management of injured coming en-masse to the hospital or health institute; identification and management of the dead; drill practice and simulation (demo) and so on.
Vice Chancellor Wagle highlighted the need of more training for disaster managements in the days to come. He went on to say that the KAHS was working to improve the health status of the people of Karnali State and Far West Province.
The KAHS has lately managed required infrastructure, human resources and equipment in Jumla for starting the MDGP and MBBS classes.
KAHS registrar Bishwaraj Kafle said KAHS doctors have been sent to render services in Jumla. He insisted the need of all to improve the health status of the entire Karnali locals.
Ministry’s chief advisor Dr Krishna Kumar Rai shared that the capacity enhancement of health institutes and health workers so to cope with the post-disaster situation had been stressed, pledging to provide additional policy-level and economic support in the days ahead to strengthen the capacity of KAHS.
Ministry’s joint-secretary Dr Dipendra Raman Singh said the KAHS would be developed as a model body in terms of disaster management efforts.
World Health Organization (WHO) representative Dr Park was of the view that disasters preparedness would help reduce the scale of damages, promising assistance to the KAHS in the days ahead for post-disaster management.
