The Far West province will provide assistance of Rs 10 million to those affected by the storm in Bara and Parsa districts.
The provincial cabinet meeting held Tuesday morning has decided to deposit the amount in the relief fund opened by the Province 2, Far West Chief Minister (CM) Trilochan Bhatta told Setopati.
"It is our responsibility to help when there is disaster wherever inside Nepal. We have decided to provide monetary assistance to fulfill that responsibility," CM Bhatta stated.
The Province 3 already has decided to contribute Rs 10 million.
Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, meanwhile, has also pledged to provide Rs 2.50 million on Tuesday. Deuba, who reached the storm-hit areas including Pheta, Bharwaliya and Purainiya on Tuesday, said the party will deposit the amount in the provincial government's relief fund, according to NC central member Farmullah Mansoor.
"We are with you all. We will put pressure on the government for your treatment. NC will deposit Rs 2.50 million to the relief fund," Mansoor quoted Deuba as telling the victims.
A total of 27 persons were killed and hundreds injured in Bara and Parsa districts due to the storm Sunday night.
