The Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC) has brought into effect the 'NARC Agriculture Technology Communication Network' to provide information to farmers on agriculture.
The network has been put in place to contribute to transform the existing subsistence farming to commercial and enterprise-oriented farming in Nepal. Many farmers are being connected to the network.
Any farmer can get enrolled by sending a friend request to the network, informed Hari Krishna Uprety, Chief of Communication, Publication and Documentation Division of NARC. "We use this network to impart information about new and contemporary technology in agriculture useful for farmers", he said, adding the Network has been helpful for farmers through the sharing of relevant agro-related information published in different newspapers and online sources.
NARC has come up with the establishment of the network to respond to the concerns and problems being faced by farmers. "Its development and expansion has contributed to return Nepali workforce from foreign country to adopt agriculture, enhance women's capacity to increase their income and encourage people to spur their personal investments in agriculture", he added.
