27 killed, over 500 injured in storm in Bara, Parsa

At least 27 persons have been killed and over 500 injured in Bara and Parsa districts due to a storm Sunday night. The death toll and number of injured persons can rise still further, according to the police in Province 2. Twenty-six were killed in Bara and one in Parsa. "The death toll can rise further. Some are critically injured and some have minor injuries," SSP with Dhanusha Police Shekhar Koirala said. "We have not been able to accurately estimate the total number of injured persons. A large number of Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force personnel were mobilized in rescue operation, according to Koirala. The injured persons are being treated at Birgunj Health Care, Narayani Hospital, Birgunj National Hospital, Gandak Hospital and Neuro Hospital in Birgunj.
