The Kanchanpur District Court has sought a bail amount of Rs 900,000 from the then DSP with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) Angur GC who is facing the case of negligence and destruction of evidence during investigation of the rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Kanchanpur.
The bench of district Justice Rajendra Kumar Acharya has sought the amount in two different cases related to rape and murder of Nirmala Panta.
The court has sought Rs 500,000 in the case of torturing the accused Dilip Singh Bista in custody and Rs 400,000 in the case of negligence and destruction of evidence during investigation of the case, according to registrar at the court Hari Krishna Awasthi.
The hearing about whether to keep GC in custody for investigation ran for three days.
The CIB had sent a team under GC for investigation of the case.
The Nepal Police had filed cases of torture, and negligence and destruction of evidence against eight police personnel including the then chief of Kanchanpur Police Dilli Raj Bista on March 6. Bista has already been released on bail of Rs Rs 1.05 million.
Panta's body was found in a sugarcane field on July 27, 2018.
Some of the police personnel involved in the investigation of the case were relieved from their job while some were suspended after finding out their involvement in damaging evidences and fabricating suspects.
