Complaints by house-owners outnumber other complaints at the judicial committee of the Kathmandu Metropolitan City.
KMC judicial committee coordinator and deputy mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi (Shrestha) said complaints related to the tenants not paying the house or room rent on time and vacating the rooms without informing the house-owner were received in an increasing number at the judicial committee lately.
According to her, on an average up to 10 such complaints are lodged with the committee daily. She added that such complaints especially come from Kalanki, Koteshwor, Baneshwor and Bagbazaar areas.
Besides this, the complaints related to public roads, disputes with neighbors and problem of shortage of water are also received in increasing numbers.
Fifteen complaints including 10 complaints related to house rent and five complaints related to other issues are received at the committee daily.
Shrestha said the committee is yet to settle 25 various complaints. The committee deals with the complaints once a week. She said it is not that tenants have no complaints but they do not come lodge the complaints.
Tenants' problems in Kathmandu valley are mainly related to not getting rooms on rent, the house-owners increasing the rent arbitrarily and the problem of shortage of water.
