A solar power project operated at Lo Manthang in Upper Mustang has closed down.
The 70-KW project came to a halt when its battery failed to charge due to snowfall and cold.
Ram Bahadur Gurung, a local of Lo Manthang, said the entire village has been at dark with the solar power station could not charge for its operation.
The Chinese government had installed the project at the cost of Rs 10 million four years ago.
"We did not explore alternative measures relying on solar power", Gurung said, adding the locals are deprived of lighting up their house, charging their mobiles and watching television following the shutdown of the project.
