People are thronging to Tundikhel Friday morning to pay last respects to the seven persons killed in the Air Dynasty chopper crash in Taplejung on Wednesday including Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Vice-President Nanda Bahadur Pun, former PM and CPN Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, and ministers, leaders and dignitaries paid tributes to the deceased at Tundikhel.
Relatives of the deceased, party cadres and commoners are also thronging to Tundikhel to pay homage to those killed in the accident.
The program started after the bodies were brought from the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital. The program could not be held on Thursday due to complexities in identifying the bodies. Bodies of Adhikari and his private security officer Arjun Ghimire were identified at the crash site itself but those of the other five were identified only late Thursday night.
The body of Minister Adhikari will be flown to Pokhara after the program at Tundikhel.
Minister Adhikari, his PSO Ghimire, Yeti Airlines owner Ang Tshering Sherpa, pilot Prabhakar KC, under secretary at the Prime Minister's Office Yubaraj Dahal, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal Birendra Kumar Shrestha, and Authority’s Dhurba Das Bhochhibhoya, who had gone to Chuhandanda of Tehrathum for feasibility study of airport, were killed when returning from the nearby Pathivara temple in Taplejung.
