Some community schools in Palpa have come forward as compared to the private ones in terms of quality education.
The evaluation of parents is that some community schools have done better than private ones with the guarantee of quality education for children along physical infrastructures.
Adequate space and classrooms, canteen facility within the school premises, facility of toilet with water supply, playground, disciplined school atmosphere and extra activities at the Ram Tulasi Secondary School based in Bejhad, Rampur, are the salient features attracting the students and parents of late.
Student Nishan Sigdel said school atmosphere attracted him to join it. More, he feels blessed to have teachers who share their knowledge with students in a familiar way. Two community schools including the Ram Tulasi were selected as model schools in the district in 2074 BS.
Another is Ganga Secondary School. The number of students, library and lab facilities for science practical classes, physical infrastructures, ample space, regular auditing, classes up to 12 classes, teaching style and educational progress of students are taken as indicators to select any school as a model one.
Ram Tulasi has presently around 200 students, the school with the second highest number of students in the district.
Students from outside the districts including Gulmi, Parbat, Arghakhanchi, Syangja, Tanahu and Nawalpur also arrive here for study.
The school offers classes from nursery to grade five in English medium.
School assistant Kul Bahadur Darai said regular classes have also helped to maintain the quality of education.
The school has introduced computer technology in its daily activities, said school principal Balkrishna Lamsal.
The school enrolled 350 new students last year alone and of them, 150 were from the private schools. Presently, there are 437 community and 60 institutional schools in the district in Province 5.
