Four people have died in a bus accident in Sankhu, Kathmandu.
According to Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, the accident occurred around 5 p.m. on Wednesday in the Lapsiphedi forest of Shankharapur Municipality-3.
The deceased include three women and one man.
The bus, with registration number Ba 4 Kha 8788, plunged approximately 40 meters off the road along the Jarsinghpauwa-Sankhu route.
There were an estimated 35 passengers on board. Police rescued the passengers and rushed them to various hospitals.
A total of 27 people – 11 men and 16 women – were injured in the accident. They are currently receiving treatment at Orthopedic Hospital, Shankharapur Hospital, NMC Hospital, Stupa Hospital, Teaching Hospital, Mulpani Municipal Hospital, Sushma Koirala Hospital, and People's Life Care Hospital.
The bus was reportedly returning from a picnic when the tragedy occurred.
