One of the injured has died during treatment following a jeep accident in Baitadi, bringing the total death toll to four.
The latest victim has been identified as 27-year-old Basanti Air of Sigas Rural Municipality-1, Dadeldhura. She passed away at Dadeldhura District Hospital, according to Police Inspector Suraj Singh, the district police spokesperson.
Earlier, Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepak Kumar Rai, chief of Baitadi Police, confirmed that three people died on the spot. They were identified as 25-year-old Nishant Bohara and 28-year-old Bhandev Bhatta of Sigas-1, and 13-year-old Rakesh Rawat of Alital Rural Municipality-3.
Two critically injured passengers – 19-year-old Bimala Air and 25-year-old Lalmani Bohara of Sigas-1 – have been referred to Dhangadhi in Kailali for further treatment after receiving initial care in Dadeldhura, Inspector Singh said.
Four others injured in the accident are currently undergoing treatment in Dadeldhura. They include 4-year-old Pransa Air of Sigas-1; 28-year-old driver Ganesh Bista of Dudhilakhan, Sigas-1; 32-year-old Birendra Bohara of Alital-3; and 25-year-old Kamala Bista of Patan Municipality-8, Baitadi.
According to police, the Bolero jeep (Ma 1 Ja 224) was traveling from Motinagar to Dadeldhura when it lost control and plunged nearly 250 meters off the road at Sandighati in Patan Municipality-8, along the Jayaprithvi Highway. The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on Monday.
Ten people were traveling in the jeep.
