The second special general convention of the Nepali Congress is set to dissolve the central committee led by President Sher Bahadur Deuba.
According to the procedure passed by the special general convention, since the term of the central committee elected from the 14th general convention has already ended, the central committee will be dissolved, and a new central committee will be elected to function until the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress is held.
Deuba was elected as president from the party's 14th general convention held from December 10-14, 2021.
On December 1, 2025, the central committee had extended the committee's term until February 12.
The procedure proposes the formation of a five-member election committee, including one coordinator, to conduct the election for a new central committee from the special central general convention.
Similarly, decisions made in the past by the central committee and the central working committee will be reviewed, revised, and if deemed necessary, deactivated or annulled.
The procedure also mentions that the special general convention will pass a proposal declaring that the central general convention called for January 11–12 is legitimate.
This procedure has already been passed by the hall.
