Karnali province, among the seven provinces in the country, is most vulnerable to natural disasters.
Speaking at a seminar on ‘Disaster Preparedness and Response Plan’ organized by the Ministry of Health and Population, Health Emergency and Disaster Management Unit, Chudamani Bhandari, chief of Unit’s Health Emergency Operation Center, said Karnali is highly vulnerable in terms of natural disasters including earthquake.
Scientific research and predictions suggest this, he said, adding that a joint workshop of three provinces was organized here bearing this in mind.
According to him, the objective of training was to cooperative with private and government hospitals in province and the Karnali Academy of Health and Sciences (KAHS) during the time of disasters. He pledged to support Dang, Banke and Dadeldhura districts for the training of health workers.
The four-day training kicked off in Surkhet from Thursday has been imparting training to provide service during emergency situation.
The doctors and health workers from the Far-West, province-5 and Karnali province are attending the workshop, said KAHS Director Dharnaraj Gosain. The workshop is supported by the KAHS.
