The Hetauda office of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) held an interaction with chiefs of local levels and ward chairpersons in the district on Monday.
With the rise in graft complaints at local level, the constitutional watchdog body discussed with the people’s representatives of the district.
On the occasion, CIAA Commissioner and employees shared the complaints related to corruption at local level have been registered high.
At the program, Commissioner Dr Sabitri Thapa Gurung said those committing corruption would not be spared.
“Good governance can be maintained only after corruption control”, she said, stressed the need for assurance in rights and implementation with the rise in the responsibility of local level.
Another Commissioner Dr Ganesh Raj Joshi said the local level has witnessed plethora of problems. “Problem has surfaced in implementation even after the guilty is declared by the court”.
On the occasion, CIAA Hetauda Office Chief Humkala Pandey presented a working paper covering the issues including CIAA constitutional provisions, legal and constitutional structure, institutional strategies, investigation process, complaint number and progress on settlement of cases.
According to her, the CIAA Hetauda office has settled 304 out of 628 complaints registered at the office in the current fiscal year. The highest (247) complaints registered are related to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration. During the period, the office had undertaken 10 sting operations.
