The student wing of the main opposition party Nepali Congress (NC) Nepal Students' Union (NSU) on Tuesday has played football in the Ranipokhari drained for reconstruction to sarcastically draw the government's attention.
NSU has played football in a sarcastic criticism of the government for neglecting reconstruction of the Ranipokhari after the Gorkha Earthquake in 2015. The student organization played Ranipokhari Football Cup putting a banner reading 'You missed to mention converting the Ranipokhari to a football ground in the list of developments, dear PM.'
The football organized by NSU central committee featured students from Trichandra, Shankar Dev, Ratna Rajya, Nepal Commerce and other campuses inside the Kathmandu Valley as players.
NSU Vice-president Dilli Ram Subedi said the game was played to put pressure on the government for reconstruction of Ranipokhari. "Dear PM, do list Ranipokhari ground among the national pride projects," Subedi added in sarcasm. "Ranipokhari has become a grassland. Why is it not reconstructed even three years after draining it for reconstruction?"
