Mechi Tourism Festival kicks off

A 10-day Mechi Tourism Festival began at Ilam Headquarters from Thursday with an objective of bringing in 50,000 tourists in Mechi. Things portraying the literature and cultural aspects have been put on display in the festival. Similarly, stalls of food items of different ethnic communities have also kept in the festival. A rally was organized along with Newari, Rai, Gurung, Limbu and Brahmin attire and musical instruments. Tourism sites of four districts of Mechi were exhibited in the rally. The festival has been organized with an objective of promoting tourism of four districts of Mechi—Taplejung, Jhapa, Ilam and Panchthar. A total of 50 stalls have been kept in the festival organized by Tourism Promotion Concerned Committee.
