The Nepal Teachers' Federation has called off its pre-announced agitation programs following the convening of talks with the government.
The Federation has put off ‘Let Us Go Kathmandu’ program set for December 7 after the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology assured them of holding talks to address demands on presence of the representatives of Ministries of Law, Finance, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
Earlier on November 30, the Federation had obstructed the day-to-day curricular operation of the community schools and staged a demonstration in Kathmandu.
The Federation has been on agitation for the past six months putting forth several demands, including amendment to constitution on returning school education rights from local level, implementation of past agreements made with the teachers and adequate allocation of budget for free and compulsory education.
