Tourism Festival to take place in Ilam from Dec 20

A tourism festival is to be organized December 20 through 31 in Ilam with the objective of overall promotion of tourism in Jhapa, Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung districts in Province 1. Dubbed the Mechi Area Tourism Festival Ilam- 2018, the event is being organized with the goal of promoting the four districts as tourism destinations and improving the livelihood of the locals, the organizer Ilam Tourism Promotion Concerned Committee stated. One hundred fifty business stalls will be kept, showcasing the agro-products, handicrafts and other local goods produced in the four districts. There will also be cultural presentations depicting the traditional ethnic culture. The organizers expect that more than 50,000 people will observe the festival and stalls. The estimated cost of the festival is Rs 5 million. The Province 1 government, the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forests and Environment, Nepal Tourism Board and the Mechi Mountain Area Tourism Promotion Committee are the promoters.
