Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Rabindra Adhikari has expressed the conviction that the Contribution-based Social Security Scheme initiated by the incumbent government will bring a big change in the life of the workers.
Addressing a program marking the 38th Inception Day of Nepal Independent Hotel, Casino and Restaurant Workers’ Union here Thursday, the Tourism Minister said that the government would implement the social security program in an effective manner.
He pledged that the government would not leave any stone unturned to protect the rights and privileges of the workers.
Minister Adhikari added that the country cannot be developed without developing the tourism sector.
Stating that the draft of the Federal Tourism Act, 2018 has been prepared for the promotion of the entire tourism sector, he said the Act would be passed by the parliament in its next session.
Tourism Minister expressed the belief that the problems seen in the casino sector would be resolved in a sustainable way after the Act comes into force. He complained that legal hurdles were faced when he tried to systematize the casino sector.
He warned that casinos not paying the royalty would not be allowed to operate under any circumstance, pointing out to the possibility of opening casinos in the outlying areas and developing them as ‘casino hub’.
Founder president of the Union Hari Sharma called on the casino workers to raise voice for their rights in an organized way. He also urged the government to address the workers’ demands.
Senior trade union leaders and businessmen were honored on the occasion. The authorized trade union of the Hotel Annapurna Durbar Marga bagged the ‘Outstanding Trade Union Award’.
The workers participating in the program had expressed happiness over the announcement of the Contribution-based Social Security Program.
