The coordination meeting between the border security officials from Nepal and India has concluded at Aligarwa of Siddarthanagar district in India.
The meeting attended by the representatives of the Armed Police Force (APF) and Border Security Force (BSF) have signed an agreement for taking measures for enhancing coordination and cooperation, and exchange of information from both sides, according to APF Superintendent of Police (SP), Deepak Adhikari.
The meeting held discussion on security situation in the no man's land as well as all the issues prevailing in the bordering areas. They also dwelt on the ideas to address these issues and agreed to resolve the issues such as human and drug trafficking, goods and arms smuggling in the bordering areas in mutual understanding and joint efforts.
"Both the sides would inform about the issues prevailing in the bordering areas to their Central offices," said SP Adhikari, informing that the meeting suggested setting up an Indian Customs Office at Chakarchauda in Indian bordering area.
The Customs Office would facilitate the tourists coming to Aligarwa to enter Nepal to visit the nearest religious sites-Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha and Tilaurakot.
The Indian side commended the efforts of APF for their role in controlling crimes in the bordering areas.
The next meeting between the APF Border Outpost and BSF would be held in Kapilvastu in Nepal.
