Robbers kill one in Bardiya, three arrested

Police have arrested three persons in suspicion of shooting one Mohan Khatik dead in Bardiya. Spokesperson of Nepal Police in Province 5 DSP Pushpa Raj Shah said the three are being investigated. Locals earlier complained that some people shot Khatik, 35, of Badhaiyatal-3, Gobariyapur and looted Rs 50,000 from him. The group of unidentified robbers had reached Khatik's home at around 1:40 early Monday morning and shot him, according to the locals. Police say bullet shells were not found at the spot despite the Khatik family claiming that Khatik was shot. DSP Shahi said Khatik breathed his last at 4:45 in the morning in a nursing home in Nepalgunj. He said it is not yet clear whether Khatik was killed while retaliating against the robbers or someone killed him due to personal animosity.
