About one million people in the country are suffering from rheumatic arthritis. This information was shared at a program here Sunday.
Owing to the changed lifestyle, the number of people belonging to almost all age groups suffering from rheumatism has been increasing.
At an awareness program organized by Norvic Hospital on the occasion of the World Arthritis Day in the capital city today, the person getting rheumatoid arthritis badly affected with joint pain. The joints get warm, swollen and stiff causing difficulty in movement.
There are over 200 sorts of disease relating to rheumatism.
Smoking, overweight and genetics are some reasons behind rheumatic arthritis.
Even a morning rally was organized on this occasion. The rally went through Thapathali, Tripureshwor, Sundhara, New Road gate, Kamalpokhari, Kalopul, Jay Bageshwori, Gaushala, Old Baneshwor, Babarmahal and back to Norvic premises.
Some 150 persons including those suffering rheumatic arthritis, doctors and nurses attended the rally.
On the occasion, deputy general manager of Norvic Hosptial, RP Mainali, said one among three Nepalis gets rheumatic arthritis at any stage of life.
