At a time when some rural settlements in the country are reeling under shortage of drinking water, every house at Khanigaun of Mangala rural municipality in Myagdi boasts of water tap.
The locals are happy after taps were installed at their houses by the West Nepal Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project under the ‘One House, One Tap’ scheme.
The water supply project has been completed at a total cost of Rs 6.76 million. The locals contributed voluntary labor equivalent to Rs 1.8 million, water users committee president Tek Bahadur Chhantyal said.
Similarly, the Nepal Government and the Government of Finland together contributed Rs 2.97 million while the Mangala rural municipality provided Rs 676,000.
Meantime, a drinking water project has been constructed at Durdi of Barangja in the district. The project cost Rs 7.3 million. At least 68 families at the settlement have been benefited from this project.
