At the call of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Teachers' Day is observed every October 5 since 1994.
"The right to education means the right to a qualified teacher", is the theme of the Day for this year.
Nepal Teachers Federation held a daylong workshop in Lalitpur Tuesday on the occasion of World Teachers' Day.
The event was supported by the UNESCO Kathmandu. Federation chairman Baburam Thapa urged the government to take initiation to implement agreements relating to demands and facilities of teachers or else face teachers' agitation.
