At least 117 people lost their lives due to the incidents of floods and landslides triggered by heavy rain in various parts of the country in the last five months. As many as 183 people were injured in these disasters.
Many people were killed to the disasters induced by heavy rainfall from mid-April to mid-September, according to the National Emergency Operation Center at the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The Center stated that out of the 117 people killed due to the rain-induced disasters, 83 died in landslide, 17 due to floods and 17 due to heavy rains. Among the victims, 59 are male and 58 are female.
The Center stated that during this period 310 incidents of landslide, 80 incidents of flood and 247 instances of heavy rain occurred during the last five months.
Five people have gone missing in incidents of flood and landslide. It stated that 1,078 families have been affected by floods, 735 families have been hit by landslide and 353 families by heavy rainfall.
