Inter-Party Women Alliance (IPWA) has demanded 33 per cent representation of women in all bodies of the state including the Constitutional Commissions, diplomatic missions as per the constitutional provision.
Meeting the leaders of major political parties on Monday, the Alliance also urged them to ensure representation of women as per the constitutional provision.
A team headed by Alliance's Chairperson Neelam Barma and General Secretary Kalyani Rijal met separately with Chief Whip of Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), Dev Prasad Gurung, and Chairperson of Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal, Mahantha Thakur, and submitted the memorandum in this regard.
Although the political parties have increased women's participation after reinstatement of democracy in recognition of the women's role and contribution in the country's democracy movement, there was no complete proportional inclusive representation of women in all sectors, reads the memo.
