Judicial custody of Bam sisters extended by six days

The Kanchanpur District Court on Monday has extended the judicial custody of Babita Bam and Roshani Bam by six more days. A single bench of Kanchanpur District Court justice Prakash Kumar Adhikari extended the custody of Bam duo, arrested on Saturday, for investigating rape and murder of 13-year-old Nirmala Panta of Bhimdutta municipality-2 of Kanchanpur. Nirmala Panta, who had gone to her friend Roshani's home to do her homework on July 26, was found dead in a sugarcane field on the next day. The post-mortem report says that she was strangled to death after rape. Earlier, the police had made a mentally-challenged Dilip Singh Bista public for his alleged involvement in the case. Locals in Bhimdutta municipality have been staging demonstrations accusing the police of framing Bista and to save the real culprits.
