Minister for Home Affairs Ram Bahadur Thapa on Friday visited Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) to take stock of a person seriously injured when police opened fire to disperse the locals demanding justice for Nirmala Panta.
Arjun Bhandari was brought to TUTH for further treatment from Kanchanpur. Minister Thapa reached the hospital and committed that the government will bear all the cost of treatment.
The body of the 13-year-old Panta, who had gone to a friend’s home for study on July 26, was found at a sugarcane field the next day.
The police on Saturday arrested Dilip Singh Bista, 41, of Bhimdutta-19 and produced him before the Kanchanpur District Court on Monday as the main accused. But the locals have been claiming that Bista is not the real culprit and the police are presenting him as one to save the real one.
