Taxi drivers in Kathmandu Valley must wear fluorescent jackets from Wednesday.
The Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, organizing a program in Sundhara on Wednesday, informed that drivers plying their taxis in Kathmandu Valley must wear fluorescent jackets.
Although the Metropolitan Traffic Police Office has implemented this rule from Wednesday, due to lack of adequate dresses, we've given them one month, " said Senior Superintendent of Police Basanta Panta, "Action will be taken against those who fail to wear such jackets."
SSP Panta further said actions will be also taken against those taxi drivers if they are found misbehaving the passengers.
General Secretary of National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs (NFNTE) Saroj Sitaula issued the directives to the taxi drivers to compulsorily show their professional dignity and discipline.
Sitaula demanded the infrastructure and proper parking systems be arranged and also asked the government to make adequate meters available in the taxi. He drew the attention of government toward the tendency of taking action against taxi drivers for not installing taximeters.
The government has decided to conduct a dress code for taxi drivers all over the country including the Kathmandu Valley by coordinating with the traffic offices and the National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs.
