Former ambassador to France Keshav Jha has been murdered at his house in Babar Mahal, Kathmandu.
SSP at the Metropolitan Police Crime Division Dhiraj Pratap Singh said Jha's body was found with slit throat at his room Monday morning. The room, where Jha was sleeping, was locked from outside. He was found dead when the police opened the door.
Police have found a knife from the room.
Jha, around 80 years in age, was staying in the house with his wife and associate Sanu Tamang. SSP Singh called the murder that occurred at Jha's house adjoining Olympia College in Babar Mahal suspicious.
Jha's wife, who sleeps in a separate room, called police after he did not wake up till late in the morning having gone to sleep after dinner Sunday night.
The Jhas have a son and a daughter. They both are doctors.
The police have taken the spot under control and started investigations using sniffer dogs.
Jha, who spent 34 years in foreign service, was the first Nepali ambassador to France.
