At least nine people including eight children and one woman were killed when two houses were swept away by landslide in Jajarkot district Saturday night.
The houses in Thanti Bazar near Khalanga were swept away after incessant rainfall. According to Police Inspector Indrajeet Sunar of District Police Office, Jajarkot, 13-year-old Narendra Pariyar, eight-year-old Govinda Pariyar, eight -year-old Darshak Pariyar, 11-year-old Nabin Pariyar, eight-year-old Lojma Bohara, three-year-old Manisha BK, 25-year-old Sitala Bohara and her nine-year-old daughter Bhagawata BK and six-year-old have been identified as the deceased. Sitala Bohara's husband Lal Bahadur Bohara, 31, is being treated at Jajarkot District Hospital.
Nepal Police, Armed Police Force (APF) and Nepal Army have been mobilized for rescue works.
