Tharu museum to add tourist attraction

Construction of a building in traditional style has been completed to establish a Tharu museum in Bhamkepani (Bhalka) of Shuklaphanta municipality-8. The building was constructed using wood and mud at the total cost of Rs. 600,000, with more than Rs. 400,000 worth of voluntary labor by the locals. "The museum will house traditional ornaments of the Tharu community, goods related to their life style and history, as well as agro-tools," said the local ward chair Bahadur Mahara. The museum is expected to come into operation by next year. The ward also has plans to build a water park, install solar-fed lamps and provide free WiFi facilities. The road leading to the museum has already been graveled. The Bhamkepani area is already a tourist destination receiving around 3,500 tourists annually. It is also a popular site for picnic for the locals. The area hosts a grand fair every year on the occasion of Maghe Sankranti.
