As many as eight people were killed when a landslide triggered by incessant rainfall near Timure Bazaar of Rasuwa district on Wednesday night.
District Police Office, Rasuwa informed that three houses were buried in the landslide. A hotel was operated in one of the houses buried in the incident.
Shyam Shrestha (42), Resham Khadka (37), Bikram Shrestha (27) and Mangal Tamang (45) of Bhotekoshi rural municipality of Sindhupalchowk and Mingmar Gumbu of Gosainkunda rural municipality-1 of Rasuwa, who were living in the hotel, were killed in the incident. Police confirmed that they were the drivers of the vehicles bringing goods from Kerung. Two operators of the hotel are still missing.
Police constable Prem Bahadur Bhujel further informed that Sharmila Kami, Ramesh Tamang and Dorje Wangchu Ghale were also killed in the incident.
Meanwhile, a temporary police post in Timure was also buried in the landslide last night. The landslide has blocked Rashuwagadhi border.
Police informed that the rescue operations are on and the preparation to clear the debris is also underway.
