The plan to establish SAARC Handicraft Development Center in Kathmandu is likely to become true. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to lay a foundation stone of the center on July 22.
Aimed to develop and promote handicrafts of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), the Rs 270 million project funded by the Government of Nepal is located at Tripureshwor.
Construction target of the five-story building is three years, and the new building will house a handicraft test laboratory, a handicraft exhibition hall, a handicraft design center and a handicraft training center. The government has released Rs 50 million for the project.
