A celebrity Brazilian plastic surgeon known as Dr Bumbum has gone on the run after a woman died hours after receiving injections he gave her to enlarge her bottom.
Dr Denis Furtado carried out the procedure on Lilian Calixto at his home in Rio de Janeiro but she fell ill during the procedure, BBC has reported citing investigators.
The procedure, believed to involve the injection of acrylic glass filler, took place at his apartment in the upmarket district of Barra de Tijuca.
Soon after receiving the injections, she reportedly fell ill and started gasping for air, and her condition quickly deteriorated.

Furtado took her to the local Barra D’Or hospital, where she was admitted in an “extremely severe condition, unresponsive to maneuvers”.
Despite the efforts of hospital staff, she lost her fight for life at 1am the next morning.
The surgeon inadvertently injected the product into one of Ms Calixto’s arteries, resulting in the formation of a clot that would have ruptured in her heart, The Sun reported quoting a hospital source.
Police has since arrested the nurse who assisted in the procedure, as well as Furtado’s girlfriend. Furtado has disappeared and a judge has issued a warrant for his arrest.
Calixto’s husband, Osmar Jamberci, told Brazil’s Extra newspaper that she had told family and friends she was going to Rio to have the hormone implant, but didn’t mention the butt enlargement procedure.
On his Instagram page Furtado has posted dozens of ‘before and after’ photos of bottoms of women on whom he has performed butt lift surgery. “I have gained my different nicknames and the most recent is DR BUMBUM and that makes me very proud,” Furtado boasts on his Facebook page.
