Five people have been killed and at least five others injured when landslides triggered by continuous rains buried seven houses at Satyadevi and Marpak in Dhading on Wednesday night.
"A landslip swept away the house of Raju Gole of Khaniyabas rural municipality-5, killing three members of Gole's family—Gole's wife Basodha Gurung, 36 and his two daughter Laxmi, 10, and Saraswati, 5. Shamsher Ghale, 65, and his wife Kopchi Ghale, 62, of Khaniyabas Rural Municipality-4, who were earlier said to be missing, are also killed in the incident," Chief District Office Bhagirath Pandey told Setopati.
Bodies of the deceased were retrieved from debris Thursday morning. The locals rescued one from the disaster and rushed to local Satya Devi health post, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Ram Bahadur KC.
The identities of the injured are yet to be established.
Similarly, a landslide buried five houses at Netrawati Dapjong rural municipality. Rescue operation has been made difficult by rain-damaged roads leading to the incident site.
The district headquarters is one-day walk from the incident site. Security force is yet to reach the incident site for rescue operation and relief distribution. Additional information is awaiting, and preparations are underway to send police team to the incident site, said the District Police Office.
