The under-construction Gorkha monument has so far witnessed 20 percent completion of its works.
The museum is being constructed at Salmedanda in Fedikhola rural municipality of Syangja in commemoration of 60,000 Gurkha soldiers who were killed during the first and second world wars. Beside monuments, the museum will also have Gorkha View Tower and ethnic cultural village.
Stretched over 300 Ropanis land, the structure will require an estimated construction cost of Rs 9 billion. So far, British Gurkhas (Nepali) have raised Rs 900 million and Ministry of Urban Development of Nepal government has provided Rs 500 million for the construction, informed Monument Construction Committee Chair Puran Dhoj Gurung.
